From our 5/22/2018 Tuesday night Keto meeting at Unity:
Another great Tuesday night @ Unity! Thanks so much for coming out.
Keto for Our Pets
If you might be interested in feeding your fur babies keto, check out Lincoln’s Doggie Delicatessen. Located just down the street from Humphrey’s meat market, Juli and Suzie are a wealth of information about raw feeding and they’re so helpful. Even if you aren’t going all raw, they also have treats for our pets that are made from real food without artificial ingredients, sugar, or starches.
Keto for People
Did you notice the bread that was featured in The Magic Pill? If you’re interested, the recipe is here.
It’s made with macadamia nuts and coconut butter. The flavor is really good. The texture not quite like regular bread, but still one that I’d recommend if you really want to make your own keto bread. If I make it again, I’ll whip the egg whites separately to give it a little more lift.
I do have to say that my favorite keto bread is still Fox Hill Kitchens. Kathryn says her Cauliflower Style Grilled Cheese is still her favorite “bread” recipe for a sandwich. What’s your favorite keto bread?
Cheesecake fluff is a simple, easy to make fatty treat that tastes a lot like a no-bake cheesecake. You can find a recipe from dietdoctor here: https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/kristies-lemon-cheesecake-fluff
Choosing Your Keto Method
We often talk about the amount of protein needed on this ketogenic way of eating. This recent article from Ketovangelist does a really nice job of describing the protein controversy that has developed in the keto community lately. Mark and I follow the very low carb, high healthy fat, and moderate protein route that has worked so well for us, but other people have found success with higher protein too. We all have to find the method that works best for us individually.
Let’s Meat Up on the 5th Tuesday
Mark and I will be at Sgt Pepper’s on Tuesday, 5/29/2018 at 5:30 pm and we’d love to see ya’ll there if you can join us. Sgt Pepper’s is one of our favorite local diners and it’s easy to have a nice keto supper there. They’ll serve their burgers bunless, they have good salads, and they have breakfast all day. And if you have friends or family who have been curious about keto, bring them along! You can find the facebook event here.
Okay, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us! Our next meeting is June 12th at 6:30 at Unity. Hope to see you all there!
Til next time,
Kynda
