Once again it was so great to see everybody at our last Unity meeting–both familiar faces and a newcomer!
We watched a quick 11-minute video from KetoConnect with various experts at Low Carb Breckinridge answering the question, “What did you believe a year ago that you no longer believe?” Although we didn’t necessarily agree with all the answers featured in the video, it’s an interesting question to reflect upon as we learn more and more about this ketogenic way of eating and living.
Let’s have lunch! We’re having our first local meat-up this Saturday, April 14th, 11 am – 1 pm, at Engrained. Our keto friends Tom Seest and Jolene Hale, whom you may have seen on the facebook keto groups, will be there too. Be sure to let me know if you’re planning to come so that we can let Engrained know how many of us to expect.
Some topics are always very popular and mayonnaise seems to be one of those! You can find the recipes that we use here. I know of only one truly keto-friendly commercial mayo and that is Primal Kitchen’s. However, once you get the hang of making your own, you may be hooked! I don’t know how I’d go back to my formerly-loved brands now that I know what freshly made mayo is all about. On the other hand, if mayonnaise is not on your menu very often, Duke’s is another no-sugar brand that is readily available in most grocery stores.
Melanie raved about these dinner rolls: https://www.castironketo.net/blog/keto-dinner-rolls. She says make sure you use a cast iron skillet to get the best results.
There’s so much good info to be had from podcasts out there. I like to listen to them while we’re at the club exercising, while I’m cooking in the kitchen, and while we’re traveling in the car. Some of our favorite podcasters are Ketovangelist, Ketovangelist Kitchen, 2 Keto Dudes, The Obesity Code Podcast with Dr Fung, Keto for Normies, and The Keto Hacking MD.
And I am loving this new book called Never Binge Again by Glenn Livingston. If you’re someone who has trouble with cravings and staying on track, the author has some good strategies.
If you’d like to be added to our email list to get these messages directly, send us your name & address with the contact box below. And be sure to ask questions if you have them
Our next meeting is April 24th at 6:30 at Unity. Hope to see you all there!
Til next time,
Kynda
