What We’ve Been Up To:

We recently watched Carb Loaded, available on Amazon.  It’s a film with a very basic overview that includes some animations that make it interesting and a little different.  Don’t worry about that part at the end where the speaker says we all need to be eating grass-fed meats and dairy.  If you like grass-fed and it fits into your budget, that’s great. If not, don’t feel you can’t follow this way of eating.  We do buy some grass fed and we like it, but we buy the majority of our meat and dairy from the grocery store and we are always looking for the bargain prices.   Anyway, the film is worth watching!

I’ve been reading Eat Rich, Live Long:  Mastering the Low Carb and Keto Spectrum for Weight Loss and Longevity by Ivor Cummins and Jeffrey Gerber.  The authors are two of the rock-stars among the low carb keto world and the book is full of good info.  They cover low-carb and paleo as well as keto.  We’re looking forward to seeing Ivor Cummins again at Keto Con in June. We talked a little more about intermittent fasting at our meeting this week.  It’s often a tool that can help the scale start moving again as we keep our eating within a 6 to 8 hour period of time during the day.  This graphic has been making the rounds in the Ketogenic Success group lately and I think it’s helpful for understanding why we work towards a 16 to 18 hour fasting window most days.

And we really liked this Introduction to Low Carb Keto tri-fold brochure that Dietdoctor.com recently posted.  It will be helpful for those interested in a quick overview of this way of eating and perfect to give to friends and loved ones who might ask, “Keto?  What’s that?!?”

Our next meeting is April 10th at 6:30 at Unity.  Hope to see you all there!

Til next time,
Kynda
